Adrenal Gland

Adrenal Gland Either of a pair of complex endocrine glands situated near the kidney.

Adrenalectomy The removal of one or both of the adrenal glands.

Adrenaline

Adrenaline A hormone produced by the medulla in the adrenal glands, in response to stress, such as fear or injury.  

Adrenocortical Carcinoma

Adrenocortical Carcinoma A rare cancer that forms in the outer layer of the adrenal gland.  

Adrenocortical Hypofunction

Adrenocortical Hypofunction A hormone deficiency caused by damage to the outer layer of the adrenal gland (the part known as the adrenal cortex) .

Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH)

Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH) Hormone produced by the pituitary gland. Its main function being to stimulate the production and release of cortisol from the cortex of the adrenal gland.
